ATHOL- Gloria J. (Lapinsky) Choquette, 78, of Main Street, died late Friday night, May 5, 2023 at home following an illness, surrounded by her four children.
Born in Athol on May 31, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Evelyn (Ball) Lapinsky and grew up in Athol.
She had married Michael E. Choquette Sr. on March 24, 1962.
Gloria had worked at the J.F. MacElwain Shoe Shop, the N. D. Cass Company and Duall Plastics.
A straightforward person, Gloria always told it like it was. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and time with her sister. Gloria was happy to sit in her chair and watch the happenings going on Main Street while entertaining family and friends.
Gloria enjoyed doing puzzles, playing bingo, scratching lottery tickets and listening to her scanner.
Gloria is survived by her children, Michael Choquette Jr. and Shirley Choquette, both of Athol, Holly Wheeler of Fitchburg and Laurie Macomber of North Adams; grandchildren, Phillip Choquette, Eugene Choquette, Michael Choquette III, Kevin Choquette, Jennifer Choquette, Tyler Choquette, Garrick Choquette, Zachary Wheeler, Nicholas Sweeney, Samantha Scutt, and Danielle Cramer; many great grandchildren; a niece, Angela Shufelt; and nephews, Robert “Bobby” Shufelt and Timothy Shufelt.
Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Sweeney in 2016, and a daughter in law, Angela Choquette in 2022, as well as a long time partner, Alfred P. Laffond in 1998.

A celebration of life pot luck luncheon will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 12 noon until 4 p.m. at the Tully City Council Club, 365 Tully Road, Orange. Please bring a dish to share.
