ORANGE- Herbert A. Richardson, 74, of Ward Road, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
Born in Gardner on January 18, 1948, he was the son of Charles E. Sr. and Edna R. (Knowlton) Richardson and grew up in Orange, graduating from Greenfield Vocational in 1966.
Following high school, Herbert enlisted in the United States Army on March 27, 1968 and served until his honorable discharge on March 17, 1970.
On May 10, 1986, he married Doreen (Cacciolfi) and enjoyed over 27 years of marriage until her death on April 14, 2014.
Herbert was a machinist at CV Tool and retired in 2010. He previously had worked for the Rodney Hunt Company and General Electric.
Herbert was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and watching wrestling.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Richardson of Orange; son, Marc Richardson and his wife, Lee Anna, of Orange; daughter, Lisa Gaudreault and her husband, Jeff, of Athol; step children, Jackie Shiver of Huntsville, TX, Mike Tacy of Athol, and Debra Hurst of Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren, Hunter Richardson, Miller Richardson, April Gresham, Kristie Means, Michael Tacy Jr.,Kevin Hurst and Trishia Gaudreault. He also leaves behind many great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Hastings and Linda Spooner, both of Orange; brothers, Donald Richardson of Wendell and Gary Richardson of Orange; and may nephews and nieces.
Besides his wife, Herbert was predeceased by his father on August 3, 2012, and by a brother, Charles Richardson Jr.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 17, 2022 from 9- 11:00 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
Interment with military honors will follow at South Cemetery, 585 South Main Street, Orange, at 11:15 a.m.
