ORANGE- James M. “Jimmy” “Snuffy” Stalilionis, 68, of Roche Avenue, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 17, 2025 after being stricken ill.
Born in Athol on January 10, 1957, he was the son of the late Mamert and Roberta (Rosberry) Stalilionis and grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Regional in 1975. He later attended Greenfield Community College.
Jimmy had been employed by Erving Paper Mill for many years, later becoming a tractor trailer driver and saw all the states except Hawaii. For several years before retiring, Jimmy delivered oil locally.
An avid fisherman, Jimmy enjoyed fishing Lake Mattawa, the Quabbin Reservoir and taking his boat “The Blue Ribbon” to Lake Ontario several times a year. He truly enjoyed spending time fishing with family and friends. He also loved boats and going hunting. Jimmy enjoyed traveling through many National Parks throughout the United States as well.
Jimmy had been a member of the Orange Gun Club along with a couple other gun clubs, the Lithuanian Club and the Quabbin Anglers.
Jimmy is survived by a brother, John Stalilionis of Orange; a sister, Joyce L’Heureux and her husband Daniel, of Athol; a niece, Jacklyn Graziano of Athol; a nephew, Dustin L’Heureux of Athol; two grandnephews, Zachary and Aiden; along with many fishing and hunting buddies.
Jimmy was predeceased by his father in 1982, and his mother in 2013.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 25, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
Interment in South Cemetery, Orange, will be private.
