ATHOL- Jason Dereck St.Hilaire, 50, of 419 Cottage Street, passed quietly with his loving wife, Shelly Mae by his side on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Athol on August 19, 1971, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Lorraine O. (Cormier) St. Hilaire. He was baptized Catholic, and attended Athol schools.
A resident of Athol his entire life, he married his soul mate, Shelly Mae (Shufelt) and together, raised their children Devin and Desiree, and their two beloved dogs.
Jason was a valued employee, and worked as a mason for Maplewood throughout his career.
A dedicated New England sports fan, Jason also left a special mark in the hearts of many near and far. He always lived life to the fullest.
Jason is survived by his loving wife, Shelly St. Hilaire of Athol; their children, Devin Belden of Athol and Desiree Belden of Orange; a brother, Joe St. Hilaire of Florida. He leaves three sisters of Athol, Debra Barbieri, Brenda Elwell, and her husband Paul. Tammy Adams, and her husband Joey, as well as a sister Denise Davis, and her husband Scott from Virginia. Jason also leaves many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Besides his parents, Jason was predeceased by brothers, Michael G. St. Hilaire and Bryan P. St. Hilaire, a brother in law, Walter J. Barbieri and a niece, Kayley M. Walsh.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held on October 23, 2021 at 11 AM at South Cemetery, 585 South Main Street, Orange.
A celebration of life will be held following the graveside services from 12 PM to 5 PM at The Steel Pub, 11 Exchange Street, Athol.
