ORANGE- Jeannette A. (Ward) Dery, 96, of Red Brook Lane, died early Sunday morning, June 2, 2024 at Athol Hospital.
Born in Marlborough on October 21, 1927, she was the daughter of George and Laura (Dutilley) Ward and graduated from Marlborough High School.
Jeannette was married to Richard A. Dery Sr., who died on May 18, 2001. She had worked at the Dery Drive-In on East Main Street for many years.
Family was of the up most importance to Jeannette and she cherished her time with all of them.
Jeannette enjoyed having her friends over to play cards or Scrabble.
Survivors include her children, Richard “Rick” Dery Jr. and his wife Kathy of Orange, Mark Dery and his wife Patricia of New Salem and Priscilla Peirce and her husband Herbert of Orange; Twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren; son in laws, Dana Crosby of Riverview, FL and Ronald Ferguson, of Athol; and dear friends, Barbara Jenks and Janine Quader.
Besides her parents and husband, Jeannette was predeceased by two daughters, Kathy Crosby on February 8, 2019 and Linda Ferguson on January 7, 2012.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held on June 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. in Gethsemane Cemetery, corner Fielding Way and Daniel Shays Highway, Athol.
