Jesse L. Sawin

SOUTH ATHOL- Jesse L. Sawin, 79, of Rice Street, died on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.

Born in Montague on April 20, 1942, he was the son of the late Clifford L. Sawin Jr. and Shirley (Meuse) Sawin and grew up mostly in South Athol. He graduated from Athol High School in 1960.

He married Mary A. (Smith) on September 18, 2010 and have enjoyed over 10 years of marriage. Jesse previously married Lois (Black) in 1962 and she predeceased him in 1991.

Jesse worked for the Rodney Hunt Company as an inspector for many years.

In his younger years, Jesse enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing golf and dancing. He had coached Chuck Stone Little League in Athol as well as Babe Ruth League in Orange. Jesse also enjoyed playing cribbage, loved sports and riding his tractor.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Mary Sawin of South Athol; his children, Eunice Parsons and her husband, Dan, of Athol, Amy Boudreau and her husband, Tom, of Orange, and Eric Sawin and his girlfriend, Marcy Litchfield, of Athol. Jesse also leaves his grandchildren, Eric Sawin II and Calista Sawin, both of Orange, Joli Parsons of Chicopee, and Sam Parsons of Athol; and a great granddaughter, Nevaeh Rivera of Chicopee. He also leaves a sister, Janet Matthews of Athol; and a brother, James “Butch” Sawin of Athol.

Jesse also leaves step children, Michael Waterman of Brattleboro, VT, and Melissa Waterman of New York; as well as step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Besides his parents and first wife, Jesse was predeceased by a sister, Jean Johnson and a step son, Frank Waterman.

There are no calling hours.

Services and interment in South Cemetery will be private.
