ATHOL- We are sadden by the loss of Joan M. (Trottier) Russell, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 9, 2021 at the age of 82 after a long illness and a courageous fight.
Joan was the daughter of the late Clement and Bertha (Aubin) Trottier of Millbury, MA and was predeceased by a brother, Robert C. Trottier and a sister, Lois A (Trottier) Grady.
Joan was born in Worcester, MA and raised in Millbury MA and graduated from Millbury High School where she enjoyed involvement in the fife and drum core.
Joan leaves behind her husband of 64 years, the love of her life, George B Russell. She also leaves behind 8 children, George R. Russell of Carroll, NH and spouse Denise A Russell, Denise J. (Russell) LeBlanc and spouse Andrè LeBlanc Sr. of Holiday FL, Donald J. Russell of Millbury, MA, Ann Marie (Russell) Marshall and spouse Stephen Marshall of Phillipston, MA, Kevin Russell and spouse Sandra (Wheeler) Russell of Umatilla, FL, Darlene J. (Russell) Schofield of Fitchburg MA, Lori J. (Russell) Bryson and spouse George Bryson of Leominster MA, and daughter Amanda Russell of Athol, MA. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Andrè Jr. , Ryan, Jared, Justin, Craig, Chris, Aaron, Ashley, Timothy, Kurt, Chad, Mitchell, Devon and Sydney; as well as 9 great grandchildren, Solara, Lilyana, Benjamin, Osiris, Owen, Ariadne, Kayden, Maxwell and Vincent.
Joan was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 48 years and attended the local Kingdom Hall in Orange, MA.
Joan enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitching, knitting and crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family and camping through the years.
There will be a virtual memorial service via Zoom given by the local Kingdom Hall on December 11th at 2pm.
