ATHOL- John Joseph Brzozowski was a loving and vibrant man with a compassionate heart and eagerness to help others. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 12, 2021. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, John never complained and enjoyed each moment until the end.
John was born to Joseph and Rita (Houle) Brzozowski on February 6, 1961, in Northampton, MA, and grew up in Hatfield, MA. After graduating from Smith Academy, he went on to study at Springfield Technical Community College following in his father’s footsteps by becoming a Licensed Journeyman Electrician. While working, he met his wife Robin (Martin), and with her son Seth, they became the family he had always dreamed of having.
A hard worker from an early age, he took great satisfaction in his trade, and genuinely loved being an electrician.
An avid fly fisherman, his gear was always close at hand, and he’d take any opportunity to get out on the water, especially at his favorite spot, Johnson’s Hole on the Deerfield River. He loved the outdoors – excelling at both baseball and soccer in his youth, and in his later years, he enjoyed biking, cross country skiing and his annual camping trips with friends.
A man of strong faith, he was active in the church throughout his life, most recently serving on the Worship Committee and as Sexton for the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church in Athol, MA.
Along with his parents, wife and stepson, John is survived by his younger brother, James Brzozowski and his wife Diane, of Hatfield, and his niece Lauren Brzozowski (fiancé, Tom Peachey), and nephews Steven Brzozowski, and Joshua Adams.
John was preceded in death by his older sister, Sharon (Brzozowski) Adams in 2019.
A calling hour will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, 40 Island St., Athol, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, Living Memorial Fund.
Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is assisting the family.
