PHILLIPSTON- John W. Wheeler II, 72, of Schoolhouse Road, died unexpectedly at home on the evening of Thursday, January 23, 2025 after being stricken ill.
Born in Orange on September 6, 1952, he was the son of John W. and Patricia (Geary) Wheeler.
John was married to Mary (Hayden) in 1974 and they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until her death on December 31, 2019.
John was a foreman at the Fall Mountain Furniture Co. and retired in 2007 after 20 years.
John enjoyed his retirement years with family and friends. He also enjoyed all things classic and antique car related, especially restoration and would frequently watch TV shows revolving around the topic.
John and his wife Mary were avid fans of nature and enjoyed camping in the Berkshires where they made many lifetime friends. They enjoyed helping others where they could.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Elizabeth and Timothy Kowalczyk of Athol; grandchildren, Gianna Kowalczyk and Hayden Kowalczyk of Athol; a sister, Kathy Sue Brault and her husband, Steve, of Athol; brothers, Thomas Wheeler of Orange and Michael Wheeler of Illinois.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
There are no formal services.
