ATHOL- Joyce A. (Patterson) Dorow, 83, of Chestnut Hill Avenue, died early Tuesday morning, June 18, 2024 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.
Born in Keene, New Hampshire on April 18, 1941, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Loretta Patterson and grew up in Keene, moving to Massachusetts as a teenager. She graduated from Orange High School.
In 1963, Joyce married her sweetheart, Arthur L. Dorow, and they have enjoyed over 50 years of marriage.
Joyce had worked for the Sisters of the Assumption in Petersham for over 20 years and had previously worked for the J. F. McElwain Shoe Company, as well as doing private nursing care.
Joyce loved her time with family and enjoyed car rides with Arthur. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and going to thrift shops with daughter Sandi.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Dorow, of Athol; a daughter, Sandra “Sandi” Dorow of Athol; granddaughter, Kaylie Ann Dorow of Athol. She is also survived by her siblings, Judy Duguay of Athol, Linda Friend of Florida, and Donald Patterson of Orange; along with several nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Brian Dorow on August 29, 2021, as well as three brothers, Larry Patterson, Ronald Patterson and Leonard Patteron.
There are no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at the Orange American Legion, 40 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange.
A graveside service will be held at South Cemetery in Orange at a later date.
Donations in Joyce’s memory can be made to offset funeral costs, to Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
