Judy (Judith) Kellogg Blake Czepiel Obituary

ERVING- Judy (Judith) Kellogg Blake Czepiel, 81, of Erving MA, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on February 10, 2023.


Judy was born in Springfield, MA to John and Grace (Ryan) Kellogg on July 7, 1941. She attended school at Springfield Trade Vocational and Springfield Hospital School of Nursing, specializing in geriatric and chronic care. Judy also co owned and operated Gary’s Auto Body in West Springfield for 16 years. In 1976, she continued her nursing career working for Medical Personnel Pool caring for terminally ill patients.

Judy retired in 1981, moving to Lake Mattawa in Orange with her husband Richard. They raised English Setters for hunting, field trials and most of all for enjoyment. They ran their dogs in field trails in NY, CT, NH and MA, until her husband died in 1997. Judy stayed at the lake until moving to Erving in 2005.

Over the years she cared for many friends, neighbors and family when they became ill. She also volunteered at the Orange Senior Center and was one of the volunteers that helped create and build the North Quabbin Dog Park. She was a member of Western MA Bird Dog Club, Ducks Unlimited, N.R.A., Animal Rescue League, the Humane Society, St. Mary’s Church in Orange and Franklin County’s YMCA in Greenfield.


Judy is preceded in death by her brother Jack, father, mother, husband and beloved pet
Emma-Rose.


Survived by her daughter Susan Mailloux (Donald) of Erving; son Gerry Blake of Ware; daughter Kathleen Banas (Allen) of Easthampton; a sister Joan Scott (Armand) of NY; brother Jim Kellogg of WA, and a chosen daughter and friend Deb Litchfield of Orange. Seven grandchildren, Kenny Blake (Jessica), Alyssa Blake, Dylan Blake, Allyson Mackay (Jason), Daniel Gavron, Katelyn Mailloux Little (Zack) and Emily Mailloux. Ten great grandchildren Kenny Jr, Leia, Chloe and Ava Blake, Monica Ortiz, Damian Jones, Alannah and Jiannah Mackay, Owen and Rylan Little, and many cousins, nieces and nephews;. along with many friends, acquaintances and her beloved pet Brandy.


A Liturgy of Christian Burial Mass will be on Thursday, February 16th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 19 Congress St. Orange.

Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
