ATHOL- Kenneth O. Bowers, 87, of Petersham Road, died on Friday afternoon, September 19, 2025 at Athol Hospital.
Born in Athol on February 11, 1938, he was the son of Morris and Helene (Fisher) Bowers and grew up in Athol and attended Ralph C. Mahar Regional School.
In 1958, Kenneth married Beatrice (Pratt) and they have enjoyed 67 years of marriage and raising their family.
Kenneth served in the United States Airforce before his honorable discharge.
A long time employee of the former Plotkin Furniture Company in Athol, Kenneth was a delivery and repair man. He had also worked at the Northfield Mountain Project.
Kenneth was a kind and caring man who spent hours volunteering for many charities, especially helping the elderly and the Salvation Army.
An extraordinary dad that loved his family, he enjoyed square dancing and fishing.
He was a member of the Orange American Legion, the Lithuanian Club as well as the Franco-American Club.
Kenneth leaves behind his loving wife, Beatrice Bowers of Athol; his children, Kenneth E. Bowers (Sherry Goodrich) of Athol, Daniel J. Bowers (Sue McCarthy) of Athol, Lisa Matthews of Athol, Kim Wilson (David Wilson) of Sullivan, NH, Belinda Lovern (Brad Herk) of Athol, and Jennifer “Jenny” Bowers (Greg Farwell) of Stoddard, NH. He also leaves behind many grandchildren; great grandchildren; a sister, Jeannine Quader (Paul Quader) of Orange; and several nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by two brothers, Bobby Bowers and James, Bowers, a sister, DeDe Chappell and two uncles, Harry Vorce and Cedar Vorce.
There are no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 1-5 p.m. at the Franco-American Club, 592 South Street, Athol.
