ATHOL- LaVera I. Mallett, 98, of Athol, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
LaVera was born in Saint Francis, Kansas and was the daughter of Frederick and Eva Schlepp.
She leaves behind her five children, Patty Guimond of Sheridan, Wyoming, Lee “Pete” Mallett and his wife, Gail, of New Salem, Johnny Mallett and his wife, Pennie, of Athol, Freddy Mallett of Athol, and Jeannie Cullen and her husband, Brian, of Athol; nine grandchildren, Gregory Kanash, Chris Kanash, Keri Guimond, Brandy Lefsyk, Tisha Cleveland, Lindsey Cruz, Cody Cullen, Carly Cullen and Dylan Cullen; and 21 great grandchildren.
LaVera was predeceased by a grandson, Shon Mallett, her sister, Irene Whipple, two brothers, Johnny Schlepp and Irvin Schlepp, and her loving husband of 76 years, Ernest Mallett, who left her side just last April of 2020.
LaVera worked as a machine operator at L. S. Starrett Company, and was also a cook for many years at local restaurants including the Fox Run. She made jewelry (including her husband’s wedding ring) and she worked many years at Bruce’s Pharmacy making many friends and many “fun” memories.
LaVera was a very caring, giving and generous person. She loved everybody and would do anything for anyone. She always worried about everyone else and never complained.
LaVera had a great sense of humor and had many friends. She will be missed by many.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral services and interment in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, will be private.
