Lillian N. (Noel) Bachelder

ATHOL- Lillian N. (Noel) Bachelder, 95, of Ridge Avenue, died on Saturday evening, August 21, 2021 at Athol Hospital.

Born in Athol on January 7, 1926, she was the daughter of Robert and Albina (Lanteigne) Noel and grew up in Athol ,graduating from Athol High School in 1943. She later graduated from Springfield Hospital Nursing Program in 1947 as a nurse. In 1953,

Lillian married Gordon C. Bachelder and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage until his death on September 1, 2001.

Lillian had worked at Athol Hospital 1950-1953, Massachusetts Memorial in Boston and was a neonatal nurse at Hartford Hospital. Through-out the years, Lillian volunteered at Athol Hospital and for the Board of Health. She also served as treasurer of the Friends of Athol Public Library for many years.

Lillian will be greatly missed by her family and friends who adored her.

Survivors include her children, Timothy Bachelder (Mercer Bonney) of Westbrook, ME, Peter Bachelder (Karen) of Littleton, CO, David Bachelder (Carol) and Matthew Bachelder (Caprice), all of Athol; grandchildren, Nicole Frederickson (Jeffrey) of Acton, Charles Bachelder of Littleton, CO, and Alyson Bachelder of Athol; a brother, Joseph Noel of Lansing, MI; a sister, Sandra Knudtson of Vancouver, WA; and several nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents and husband, Lillian was predeceased by and infant son and a sister, Gloria O’lari.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main Street, Athol.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
