Marie Cumberledge
ORANGE- Marie (Byrne) Cumberledge, 66, of Athol Road, died unexpectedly at home early Wednesday morning, November 2, 2022, after being stricken ill.
Born on October 5, 1956 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Middleboro, she was the daughter of Sylvester and Yvonne (Blanchett) Byrne and grew up in Framingham and graduated from Marian High School in 1975. She later graduated from Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, VA, in 1979 with her BA in Horsemanship and studied in England her junior year with the British Horse Society.
On June 7, 1980, she married Victor Cumberledge in Quantico, VA and they have enjoyed 42 years of marriage.
Marie was the owner of Over The Anvil Stable in North Orange and was a licensed Massachusetts rising instructor since 1975 (Lic#21) and instructed hundreds of students in the art of horse care and riding.
Marie was a lover of all animals and had several dogs, cats and horses.
Survivors include her loving husband, Victor Cumberledge of Orange; sisters, Susan Byrne of North Carolina, and Joanne Getchell of Connecticut; a sister in law, Stacey Byrne of Massachusetts; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, as well as a brother, James S. Byrne.
There are no calling hours or services.
