ATHOL- Marina C. (Duguay) Cegiel, 78, of Athol, died early Tuesday morning, July 1, 2025 at home with loved ones at her side.
Born in Gardner on April 23, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Lester J. and Evelyn J. (Leduc) Duguay, and graduated from Athol High School in 1965.
Marina was married to George A. Cegiel for 38 years until his death on September 23, 2016.
She had worked as a paraprofessional for the Sierra Vista School District in Arizona before retiring.
Marina will be sadly missed by family and friends, especially her classmates from the class of 1965.
Marina loved crocheting and had made numerous blankets that she donated, some of which were auctioned off yearly at the AOTV Auction in December. She also enjoyed playing bingo and poker, and was a fantastic cook and baker.
Survivors include her children, Kurt Berry and his wife Lisa of Orange, Wayne Berry and his wife Tina, of Tully, and Clinton Cegiel of Easthampton; grandchildren, Phillip Berry and his wife Emily, Lauren Spooner, Michelle Berry and Melissa Rodrigues; great grandchildren, Angel Hope Berry, Sidney Berry, Rose Berry, Ellie Jean Berry and Jay Berry; brothers, Marc Duguay and his wife Carol of Athol, John Duguay of Athol and Lester Duguay Jr. and his wife Debbie, of North Carolina; sister Jeanne Griggs and her husband Tony, of New Hampshire; and many nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents and husband, Marina was predeceased by a sister, Diane Kennedy.
A private ceremony will be held for close family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marina’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
