ORANGE- Mary Evelyn “Evie” (Creedon) Kima passed away on January 12, 2021 at Buckley Healthcare Center in Greenfield.
She was born in Sanford, Maine to James and Ann (Gorman) Creedon on June 26, 1921. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1940.
On November 30, 1945, she married Sigmund “Ziggy” Kima, moved to Orange, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his death in 1998.
Before retiring as a bookkeeper from L. S. Starrett Company in 1983, she worked in the office of Union Tool Co. in Orange.
Evie was a member of St. Mary’s Church and an active member of the St. Mary’s Women’s Club for over 60 years.
She leaves her children, Eileen Whyte and her husband Bruce of West Springfield, and her son John, of Orange; her grandchildren, Peter S. Kima and his wife, Jennifer of Wake Forest, NC, and Christina Bazonski and her husband Joel of Haverhill, NH. Evie also leaves two great grandchildren, Cole and Camden Kima; her former daughter in law, Gabriele Kima; her sister in law, Beatrice Creedon; many nieces and nephews; along with many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Ann Williamson, and three brothers, James, Joseph and Jeremiah Creedon
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, and she enjoyed her home, reading, baking, following the Red Sox, trips to Maine and working at the St. Mary’s Women’s Club fair every October.
A special fond memory was a trip to Ireland with Ziggy and her family in 1989.
The family, on her behalf, sends special thanks to the caring staff at Buckley Healthcare Center in Greenfield and New England Hospice.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral services and interment in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol, will be private.
A memorial Mass will be held at a later time when conditions are safer to gather.
Donations in Evie’s memory are suggested to Saint Vincent DePaul Pantry, c/o St. Mary’s Church, 19 Congress St., Orange, MA 01364, or to the charity of one’s choice.
