Mary T. (Hachey) Dill Obituary

ATHOL- Mary T. (Hachey) Dill passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 after a brief illness.

Mary was born in Athol, Massachusetts on July 21, 1927, to Clara Marie (Doucette) and Raymond Hachey.

She attended Athol schools and graduated as a proud member of the class of 1946.

She lived in Orange for many years where she raised her family with her husband of sixty-five years, Richard V. Dill, who predeceased her in 2013.

True to her French Canadian roots, Mary was stoic, frugal, and hardworking. She was employed by the L. S. Starrett Co. for more than 25 years. Her diligence allowed them to retire early and spend their winters over two decades traveling to their second home in Eustis, Florida where they reveled in the warm weather. There they developed special friendships and enjoyed attending the many gatherings in their Southern Palms community, especially the dances, an activity at which they excelled.

Mary resided at River Bend Woods, much enjoying the camaraderie of a welcoming and supportive circle of friends and neighbors. She also found great joy in celebrating the accomplishments and successes of her large family.

Mary is survived by three daughters, Dianne J. Dill, Christine S. Mackenzie, both of Athol, and Kathleen E. Auer (Jeffrey) of Holyoke; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lori Dotson, and four siblings, Amelia Bullock, Adam Hachey, Henry Hachey, and Jean Russell.

There are no calling hours.
