BOSTON- Matthew C. Duguay, 36, of Virginia Street and formerly of Athol-Orange area, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Boston Medical Center after being stricken ill.
Born in Greenfield on September 20, 1986, he was the son of Troy and Alison (Green) Duguay and attended Ralph C. Mahar Regional in Orange.
A skilled craftsman in tile and flooring, Matthew had worked for The Flooring and Design Works of Boston as well as several other firms.
Matthew enjoyed music and concerts, especially country. He enjoyed fishing, skateboarding, and working out at the gym. He rooted for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and loved his family most of all. Matthew loved beaches, especially Carson Beach.
Matthew is survived by his father and second mother, Troy and Tammy Duguay, of Orange; a son, Landon Duguay of Millers Falls; a daughter, Shyla Duguay of Athol; his sisters, Alicia Torosian and her wife, Amanda Torosian, of Hampton Beach, NH, and Sarah Duguay and her partner, Evan Taft, of Baldwinville; a nephew, Dylan Stamper of Kentucky; nieces, Sierra Mahan and Arianna Mahan, both of Hampton Beach, NH, and Brianna Stamper of Gardner; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Shufelt of Orange; aunts, uncles and extended family.
Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert Shufelt.
