ORANGE- Mechille C. (Bashaw) Avdic, 57, of East River Street, died on May 21, 2024 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Athol on September 7, 1966, she was the daughter of Carl and Joyce (Sweet) Bashaw and grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Regional in 1984.
Mechille married Kasim Avdic in 1985.
Employed by Eight Dragons Chinese Restaurant for many years, Mechille had worked for the Rodney Hunt Co. a few years.
Mechille loved collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, as well as summer tag sales, movies, reading novels and most of all spending time with family.
Active in the community, Michille was involved with the Orange Santa Fund including the Breakfast with Santa fund raiser. She was also active with Valuing Our Children’s Grandparents Meeting Group.
Mechille is survived by her son, Casey Colonna of Enfield CT; a grandson, Ian Bezio, of Athol; her father, Carl Bashaw of Orange; her siblings, Rebecca Laclair and her husband, Frank, of Hampton, NH, Joseph Hatch and his wife, Paula, of Arlington, TX, Lynn Lefrancois of Orange, Shannon Isakson and his wife, Becky, of Florida, and Casey Bashaw and his wife, Kirsten, of Orange; along with many nephews and nieces.
Mechille was predeceased by her mother on March 2, 2024, a daughter Mandy Bezio on March 8, 2019, a sister Kim Coy on January 5, 2019, and by a brother Jeffrey Hatch.
There are no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held at the Orange American Legion, 40 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange, on June 9, 2024 from 1-5 p.m.
Interment in South Cemetery, Orange, will be private.
