ATHOL- Melissa E. Bruso, 39, of Main Street, died on December 21, 2025 at Athol Hospital after a long battle with kidney disease.
Born in Worcester on July 23, 1986, she grew up in Worcester in a large family with many cousins. She has lived in Athol the pass ten years.
Following school, Melissa worked for a movie theatre in West Boyalston serving concessions.
A very spiritual woman, Melissa enjoyed connecting with nature. She loved doing arts and crafts, watching documentaries, reading, crystals and horoscopes, and eating healthy- she was an amazing cook! Melissa also enjoyed kayaking and playing video games.
Melissa’s friend Dan was by her side throughout her illness helping care for her and brought much comfort.
Melissa leaves her mother and step father, Sandra and Raymond Maillet of Royalston; her siblings, Robert Bruso of Hubbardston, Emily Davis and fiancé Kaya of Fitchburg, and Matthew Davis and his wife Virginia of Phillipston; a niece, Kiara Bruso of Raynham; her best friend and companion of 25 years, Thomas Chadwick of Winchendon; several aunts, uncles and cousins; many friends; and her beloved cat “Citrine” and guinea pig “Onyx”.
Melissa was predeceased by her grandparents, Melvin and Sylvia Anderson and Paul and Beverly Bruso.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, followed by a celebration of life at 12:30 p.m., at the Athol American Legion, corner of Exchange Street and Pequoig Avenue, Athol.
