Melody B. (Bassingthwaite) Bourque

ORANGE- Melody B. (Bassingthwaite) Bourque, 72, of East River Street, died late Friday night, October 10, 2025 at Athol Hospital.

Born in Holden on August 5, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth (Newbury) Bassingthwaite and moved from Holden at a young age to live in Petersham. She graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional in Orange with the Class of 1971.

On October 24, 1986, Melody married Ronald Bourque and they have enjoyed close to 39 years of marriage.

Melody loved having her family around, especially the grandchildren. Family pictures were simple treasures. She enjoyed listening to Ron play in the bands, was an enthusiastic decorator for every holiday, and enjoyed going to Lee’s Hotdog Stand to eat.

Melody is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Bourque of Orange; her children, Heather Anderson (Garry) of Alstead, New Hampshire, Matthew Bourque (Shelly Miller) of Alaska, Lisa Batalona (Joe Mahar) of Orange and Renee Bourque (Robert Holloway) of Athol. She also leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brothers, Robert Bassingthwaite (Jeanette) of Arizona and Richard Bassingthwaite of Orange; and several nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents, Melody was predeceased by a sister, Linda McAllister.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
