ORANGE- Michael A. Sinclair, 64, of Daniel Shays Highway, passed away due to complications from recent surgery to help him with his cancer fight, on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Mike had fought a courageous battle since being recently diagnosed with lung cancer.
Born in Athol on April 27, 1960, he was the son of William and Joyce (Bevis) Sinclair and grew up in Athol, attending Athol schools and graduating from Athol High School in 1978.
Mike had worked on the Cape for a few years as well as for the L. S. Starrett Company in Athol and North Carolina. He had gone through the Starrett Toolmaker Apprentice Program. After leaving Starrett’s in North Carolina, Mike went to work for Ottweller Manufacturing in North Carolina before relocating back to the Athol-Orange area.
Mike was very talented at creating pieces out of wood in his shop. Whether it was something that was special ordered, or his cribbage boards and wooden puzzles. He was a great “handyman” and was able to fix/adapt just about any issue people needed help with.
Mike served in community projects and committees over the years and most recently joined the Armory project.
As a young person, he played Little League Baseball and was active in Boy Scouts. He also had worked at Victory Supermarket while in high school.
Mike will be missed by all those he came in contact with and helped.
Survivors include his sister, Sue Sinclair of Athol; brother, Mark Sinclair of Florida; Niece Emily Sinclair of Athol; his beloved dog and sidekick Mia; as well as his former wife Suzanne and her kids Mark, Joshua and Kristin.
Mike was predeceased by both his parents.
At Mike’s request, there will be no services.
If anyone chooses to, donations can be made to Heywood Hospital Oncology Dept., 242 Green Street, Gardner, MA 01440, or to the charity of their choice.
