Mildred B. (Marsh) Hill

ORANGE– Mildred B. Hill of Orange, MA died on January 20, 2023.

Mildred was born on March 21, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. Her mother was Julie Beryl Rose Marsh. Her father was Clarence Marsh.

Growing up in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Mildred attended the Baptist Temple Church, City College of New York and Bloomfield College in New Jersey.  She married her now deceased husband William Hill who was a Veteran of the Korean War.

In the 1960’s, Mildred’s family purchased a home in Orange, MA where she and her family spent many happy summers.

Later in life, after raising her two children, Mildred returned to higher education to earn a teaching degree and subsequently, a Masters in “Teaching English As a Second Language” from Adelphi University in New York City. She had a long career as an elementary school teacher and Reading Specialist well into her 70’s. Teaching children how to read was one of her greatest joys.

Mildred is survived by her brother, Robert Marsh, Sr., sister-in-law Anna Jean Marsh, daughter Wendy Hill Cornwell, son-in-law Timothy Cornwell, son Brian Hill, her loving granddaughter Lindsey Cornwell and her husband Matthew Arnold. She has a niece Susan Marsh and Robert Marsh, Jr. She has two other grandchildren, Brandon Hill and Justine Hill. Recently, she became the proud great-grandmother of twins Mason Jeffrey Arnold and Ella Rose Arnold.

Funeral for Mildred will be held on February 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, MA 01364
