Ogden M. Carr Jr.

ORANGE- Ogden M. Carr Jr. passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was 91 years old and left this world as a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and good friend to all who knew him. 

Ogden was born on August 24, 1932 in Dexter, Maine and it was there where he met the love of his life, Lorraine, when he was 11 and she was 9 years old. He enjoyed sailing and water skiing as a young man and spent many summers with Lorraine, in their adjacent family cottages on Lake Wassookeag. 

Ogden joined the Air Force after high school graduation and served from 1952-54. He married in 1955 and enrolled in Tufts University studying Advanced Mathematics.

Ogden worked as an Actuary for most of his career, elevating himself to the top of his field before retiring at age 58. 

Ogden loved fishing and was an avid golfer. He built a home on Wilson Pond in Maine and he and Lorraine spent winters in Florida golfing together and summers in Maine with their family. Ogden loved jazz and big band music and occasionally dancing to Tom Jones on the coffee table at home with his daughter. He loved a smart argument, good food and wine and the company of his family and friends.

Ogden was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Carr, his daughter, Deborah Carr, his brother, Roger Carr and his parents, Marguerite Ola Cunningham and Ogden Carr Sr. He leaves behind three children Gregory Carr, Jeffrey Carr and Catherine Carr Kelly; his daughters-in-law Leslie Carr and Ann Carr and son-in-law Nathan Kelly: grandchildren Alison Carr, Grace Kelly,  Nicholas Carr and Torin Kelly. Ogden also leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.

Services will be held in the summer of 2024 in Dexter, Maine.
