Patricia H. (Cain) Houghton

ATHOL- Patricia H. (Cain) Houghton, 81, of North Orange Road, died on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.

Born in Fitchburg on June 8, 1943, she was the daughter of Carl and Helen A. (Johnson) Cain and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1961.

Patricia was married to Frank C. Houghton in 1965 and they enjoyed 33 years together until his death on August 29, 1998.

Patricia was employed by the Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company for many years until retiring. Following retirement, she worked part time for Occupational Physical Therapy (OPT) in Athol for several years.

She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. An avid traveler, Patricia’s favorite destination was Yellowstone National Park. She also enjoyed reading as well as going to the dog park in Turners Falls to let the dogs run and visit with friends and have a coffee.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Sarah Houghton, of Athol; her nieces, “the girls”, Sue Ray and her husband Bob, Lynn Cain and Becky Mahoney and her wife Bonnie, all of Athol.

Besides her parents, Patricia was predeceased by a brother, William Cain, on April 3, 2011.

A calling hour will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 7 p.m.

Interment will be on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Mountainview Cemetery, 875 Old Homestead Highway (Route 32), Swanzey, NH.
