Phyllis G. (O'Connell)(Dunshee) Bowker

ATHOL- Phyllis G. (O’Connell)(Dunshee)Bowker, 93, of Orange Street, died on Monday, November 8, 2021 at home with her family at her side.

Born in Athol on April 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Grace E. (Day) O’Connell and has lived in Athol her entire life.

Phyllis worked throughout the area for many years while raising her six children. She was a home health aide at Athol Community Health, worked at Bob & Lucy’s Corner Store, was an employee of the L. S. Starrett Company, and many knew her from Bruce’s Pharmacy.

She was active in the community, volunteering at Athol Memorial Hospital, the annual Minstrel Shows, local parades, and with the Starrett Memorial Church suppers.

Phyllis enjoyed hiking, cross country skiing, traveling with Doug across the country and entertaining at home, especially for holidays and birthdays. Her most pleasurable time though was moments spent with her family, many friends and others throughout her long life.

She was dearly loved and memories of her will be cherished. Love you mom, gram and grammy.

Phyllis leaves her husband, Douglas A. Bowker, who she married 56 years ago; her daughters, Patricia DeSanto, Marlene Gravalese, Wini Tamillo and Beverlee Green and her husband Craig; her son, Bill Dunshee; grandchildren, Ashlee Bass and her husband, Nick, Travis Tamillo and his wife, Carrie, Deanna Swank, Sean Green, and Brian Dunshee, Scott Dunshee and Marc Dunshee. 

She also leaves great grandchildren, Landon Bass, Lexi Bass, Liam Bass, Hadley Tamillo  and Kyler Tamillo, Caitlyn Dunshee, Cameron Dunshee, Eve Dunshee, Jacob Dunshee, Deanna Dunshee, Grace Green, Kayleigh Green and Maverick Green.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Marlin Dunshee; a son, Marlin Bowker Jr., her brothers, Roy O’Connell and Jim O’Connell; and her sons in law, Robert DeSanto and William Gravalese.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 168 South Main Street, Orange.

Interment will be private at Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
