Raymond R. Roy

ATHOL- Raymond R. Roy, 71, of Unity Avenue, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare Campus in Worcester.

Born in Holyoke on June 18, 1950, he was the son of Arthur and Katherine (Dubia) Roy and grew up in Orange on East River Street and graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional in 1969.

Following graduation, Raymond served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969-1972, two in Vietnam before his honorable discharge.

On November 8, 1971, Raymond married Janet (Johnston) and celebrated 50 years together.

Employed by the L. S. Starrett Co. in Athol before retiring. He previously worked as a firefighter for the Town of Orange, and was a truck driver.

Raymond would help everyone and his heart was big enough for everyone.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Janet Roy, of Athol; his children, Sonya Davis and her husband, Jeff, of Alabama and Eric Roy and his wife, Elissa, of Florida; two grandchildren, Dannielie Roy-O’Leary and her husband, Chris, and Luke Roy; great granddaughter, Kathryn Roy-O’Leary; a sister, Alma Saittia and her husband, Sal, from Connecticut; many nephews and nieces; many friends including close friends, Curtis Johnston and Walt Smith Sr.; and his beloved dog, “Ruby”.

Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by a sister, Leona Saittia.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
