Richard A. Archibald Sr. Obituary

ATHOL- Richard A. Archibald Sr., 85, of Main Street, died on Tuesday evening, December 22, 2020 at Alliance Healthcare at Baldwinville.

Born in Athol on December 30, 1934, he was the son of Alfred and Frances (Grits) Archibald and grew up in Athol.

On November 21, 1953, Richard married Marie (Mallet) and they have enjoyed their 67 years of marriage.

Richard worked as a toolmaker at the L. S. Starrett Company in Athol for many years until retiring. He had previously worked for the former Temple Oil Company of Athol.

An avid golfer, Richard had been a member of the Ellinwood Country Club in Athol. He had also enjoyed bowling.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Marie Archibald of Athol; his children, Marie Coburn and her husband, Brian, of Williamstown, Richard Archibald Jr. and his wife, Andrea, of Athol, and Lisa Macomber and her husband. Larry Sr., of Orange; grandchildren, Sara Wesley, Jenna Archibald, Larry Macomber Jr., Samantha Macomber and Stephanie Macomber; a step grandson, Scott Coburn; two step great grandchildren, Taylor Coburn and Adam Coburn.

Richard also leaves behind a sister, Beverly Milewski of Turners Falls and several nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by a brother, James Archibald.

There are no calling hours and services and internment in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, will be private.
