ATHOL- Richard A. “Itchy” Nichols, 62, of South Street, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
Itchy was born in Athol on October 4, 1961 and was the son of the late Albert L. and Bettyrose (Powell) Nichols and grew up in Athol.
Itchy had been employed as a woodworker by the Cambium Corp. in Athol as well as S. Bent in Gardner.
Itchy enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and loved his dogs Mindy and Mojo (who predeceased him).
Itchy is survived by a son, Joshua Nichols of Kentucky; sisters, Barbara Lewis (Andy) of Athol and Cheryl Greco (Frederick) of North Carolina; brothers, Albert Nichols Jr. of Wareham, John Nichols, William Nichols and Ronald Nichols, all of North Carolina, and Scott Nichols of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. Itchy is also survived by long time girlfriend, Mary Bunker, and her daughters Christina, Becky, Amy and Laurie, as well as grandsons Brandon, Cameron, Dalton and Landin

A celebration of life will be held on November 4, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Franco-American Club, 592 South Street, Athol.
