ORANGE- Richard W. Armentrout Sr., 81, of Tully Road, died late Friday evening, May 16, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester surrounded by loved ones.
Born on December 17, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Kathleen R. (Moore) Armentrout and moved to Massachusetts at a young age and attended Athol and Orange Schools.
On February 13, 1963, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Lakeland AFB and Amarillo AFB, both in Texas. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1967.
On April 16, 1966, Richard married Loretta (Schofield) and they have enjoyed their 59 years of marriage raising their family.
Richard was a Past Commander of the Athol American Legion and served as President of the Chuck Stone Little League in Athol, as well as coached his sons’ teams. He had also been a long time member of the Ellinwood Country Club and the former Athol- Orange Elks Lodge #1837.
Richard had worked for Union Twist Drill and Production Tool and following retirement he worked at S&S Appliance.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and horseshoes. Following retirement, he and Loretta moved to Florida and returned a year ago.
Richard is survived by his wife, Loretta Armentrout of Orange; his children, Richard Armentrout Jr. and his wife Bridget, of Athol, Mark Armentrout and his wife Jennifer, of Athol, and Tricia Belloli and her husband Andrew, of Orange; grandchildren, Amanda (Tom), Evan, Bethany (Donald), Kaylee (Cody), Jake (Liz), Jordan (Matt), Natalie, Dylan, Zachary, Chad (Ashley), and Nick (Jamie); great grandchildren, Taylor, Avery, Cooper, Savannah, Ivy, Brooks, Addison, and Riley. He also leaves a sister, Donna Elliott of Wendell; and brothers, Gary Armentrout, Paul Armentrout and Jerry Armentrout, all of Ohio.
Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by brother, David Moore, John Armentrout and Robert Smith.

A celebration of life will be held on June 20, 2025 at 6 p.m. at the Athol American Legion, corner of Exchange Street and Pequoig Avenue, Athol.
