ATHOL- Robert C. “Bob” Dubrule, 92, of Riverbend Woods, Daniel Shays Highway, died peacefully on Sunday morning, November 14, 2021 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
Born in Claremont, New Hampshire, he was the son of Alexander and Venia (Guy) Dubrule and moved to the Athol - Orange area at a young age and graduated from Orange High School in 1949 after serving two years in the United States Army.
Following his graduation, Bob continued in the United States Army, becoming a Sergeant, until his honorable discharge on November 13, 1952, at which time he transferred into the Army National Guard. He served in the National Guard until June 23,1972 when he was honorably discharged. Serving a total of 21 years in the service. He served in Korea in from 1954 to 1955. During his time in the National Guard, Bob received a citation for his efforts during the recovery from the Worcester tornado in 1953.
On July 28, 1951, Bob married Marion L. “Betty” (Killian) and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage until her death on November 7, 2014.
Bob was employed by the Rodney Hunt Company in Orange for 29 years as a maintenance mechanic and retired in 1992. He had previously worked for Union Twist Drill, L.S.Starrett Company, Orange Foundry, and Heywood-Wakefield Company in Gardner as a paint sprayer.
Bob was a proud lifetime member of the Orange American Legion and had also taken care of buildings and grounds of the Orange Little League for 10 years.
No matter the weather, Bob enjoyed taking care of his yard, especially mowing in the warmer months on his riding tractor. He used to take care of many neighbor’s yards after his retirement. For over 25 years he enjoyed cooking Christmas breakfast for family, friends, and neighbors and continued cooking on Sunday mornings for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed a good cigar and a highball, playing golf and cribbage, and watching the Boston Bruins.
Bob is survived by his children, Marc Dubrule of Arizona, David Dubrule of Florida and Michele Rathburn and her husband, Glen, of Orange; grandchildren, Stacey Bowers-Rowe and her husband, Keith, of Buffalo, New York, Jamie Bowers of Orange, William Kronbeg, Robert Kronberg and his wife, Darcy, all of Arizona, Kevin Dubrule of Burlington, Vermont, Glen Rathburn II of Arizona, Daniele Gleason and her husband, Tim, of New Mexico, Brian Rathburn and Jordan Rathburn, both of Orange.
Bob also leaves great grandchildren, Kyle Gonynor, Natalie Gonynor, Max Rowe, Hunter Kronberg, Cameron Gonynor, Kaylee Kronberg, Dakota Kronberg, Kylee Rathburn, Alivia Gleason, Glen Rathburn III, Lyla Gleason, Victoria Rathburn, Bradley Gleason, and Tyler Gleason; as well as a brother, Eugene Dubrule of Orange; and many nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents and wife, Bob was predeceased by a daughter, Robbin J. Dubrule on April 12, 2019, brothers, Richard “Sonny” Dubrule in 2008, James Dubrule in 2019 and Bruce Dubrule in January 2021, as well as a grandson. Justin Bowers in September of 1993.

A celebration of life will be held for both Bob & Betty at the Orange American Legion, 40 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange, MA at 2 PM, on Sunday, December 5, 2021.
Services and interment in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon are private.
