Robert D. "Bob" Peirce Obituary

ORANGE- Robert D. “Bob” Peirce, 62, of Pleasant Street, died on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Athol Hospital following an illness, with loved ones at his side.

Born in Greenfield on March 13, 1961, he was the son of Douglass I. and Carlotta (Stevens) Peirce and grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School in 1979. While at Mahar, Bob excelled at playing drums and was active in Key Club.

He had studied at STCC in Springfield  following high school.

On October 19, 1996, Bob married Nancy (Chase) and enjoyed over 27 years together.

Bob was a toolmaker at the L. S.Starrett Co. in Athol.

Bob’s love of drumming had him participating in several local bands including Uncle Jack’s,  Vulture, The Reprobates, Blues Brothers, and the Al Plotkin Band.

Besides playing drums, which started at age 2, Bob enjoyed riding his bicycle, especially with Emily and had started teaching Corbin bike safety, and he also loved animals and spending time with friends.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Peirce, of Orange; a daughter, Emily Peirce, of Orange; a grandson, Corbin Brousseau, of Orange; a daughter in law, Kimberly McGraw, of Orange; brothers, Thomas Peirce of Athol and Steven Peirce and his wife, Kay, of Michigan; as well as several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, and many friends.

Bob was predeceased by his father on May 12, 1993,  his mother on June 8, 2005 and by his brother, Harry Peirce.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
