ATHOL- Robert Edward Lavender,70, of Athol, MA, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 after a long battle with COPD.
He was the son of Edward C. Lavender and Shirley A. (Warner) Lavender of Fitzwilliam, NH.
Robert was born in Winchendon, MA on August 4, 1954. He attended Dr. George S. Emerson School in Fitzwilliam, NH and graduated in 1973 fro Monadnock Regional School in Swanzey, NH.
He was a tractor trailer driver for his father’s Star Route Mail Carrier contract after graduation then was employed by Peterborough Basket Company in Peterborough, NH. He then was a specialty pallet maker upon his retirement at Briggs Lumber in Gardner, MA.
Robert was a dart player for many years, and enjoyed yard sales and local concerts in the area. One of his favorite places to visit was Quabbin Reservoir and Tully Dam. He was a collector of Budweiser memorabilia, Elmo figurines and a weekly fan of watching WWE wrestling.
Survivors are his sisters, Linda Duffy of Fitzwilliam, NH and Betty Lavender of Winchendon, MA; a brother in law, Alleyn “Chip” Kurby of Athol, MA; nephews, David and Daniel Duffy of Fitzwilliam, NH, Peter Young and Tina Beauchemin of Athol, MA; and a niece, Debra Duffy of Fitzwilliam, NH.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Peggy Lee (Young) Kurby of Athol whom was his caregiver for many years.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time.
