ATHOL- Robert W. Derynck, 77, of Partridgeville Road, died peacefully Tuesday evening, December 14, 2021 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
Born on December 23, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the son of Silven and Irene (Gottschalk) Derynck and left there in the early 1960’s.
On June 26, 1965, Robert married Susan (Hammel) and have enjoyed over 56 years of marriage.
Robert was employed by Amherst College for 33 years as the athletic equipment manager before retiring.
A member of the Central Massachusetts Steam, Gas and Machinery Association, he had also enjoyed skeet shooting and was an exceptional wood worker.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Susan Derynck of Athol; a daughter, Laura Scharosch (Jim) of Iowa; sons, James Derynck (Martha) of Michigan and Thomas Derynck of Athol; grandchildren, Austin Scharosch of Iowa, Rheanne Abeidi and Nickolas Imvivo, both of New York, and Tyler Pank of Michigan; great grandchildren, Tally Dugan and Keoni Dugan; brother, Randy Derynck (Jade) of Iowa; sisters, Deanna Jobe (Greg) of Iowa and Sandy Smith (David) of Texas; and several nephews and nieces; as well as a sister in law, Nancy Derynck of Iowa.
Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by brothers, Glen and David.
There are no services at this time.
