ATHOL- It is great sadness we announce the passing of Ruby Helen (Littlewood)(Valley) Stowell, age 92.
Born in Winchendon on July 11, 1932, she was the daughter of George and Helen (Garfield) Littlewood and grew up in North Orange and Orange, graduating from Orange High School in 1950.
Ruby’s first husband was Richard Valley Sr., and her second husband was Richard Stowell.
Ruby had worked at the J.F. McElwain Shoe Co. for 27 years, later going to work at the L.S. Starrett Co., sold AVON, became a home healthcare provider and had also worked at Duall Plastics.
Ruby had a zest for life and a passion for wearing blue eye shadow makeup. She loved time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She loved shopping, playing bingo and flowers.
Ruby had been a member of the Franco-American Club.
Survivors include her children, Julie Litchfield and her husband Mark, of Athol, Reggie Hicks and Paul Rodgers and his wife Rene, all of Minnesota.; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Ruby was predeceased by sons, Shawn Valley and Richard Valley, as well as her siblings, Fannie Sherrick, Eva Littlewood, George Littlewood, Arthur Littlewood, Donald Littlewood, and Robert Littlewood.
There are no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held on June 6, 2025 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Boiler Room Bar & Grill, 245 Tully Road, Orange.
