WENDELL-Sally Ann [Clark] Wilder, of Davis Turn Rd, died on Monday morning, June 20,2022 at home following an illness, with loved ones by her side.
Born in Gardner on May 14,1939, she was the daughter of the late Chester Sr. and Florence [Williams] Clark. She grew up in various towns as her father owned a portable sawmill and worked lots he bought. They settled in Charlemont, later moving to the Clark homestead in Wendell. She graduated from New Salem Academy.
In 1956 Sally married Josiah [Milly] Wilder Jr. and enjoyed 41 years of marriage until his death on January 2, 1998.
She was employed by Deerfield Academy for 25years. She was a custodian and a school bus instructor as well as driver for sports team to their events. Sally had previously owned and operated J.M. and S. Wilder Bus Company with her husband for several years. Sally was a member of the Ladies Aide, using her knitting skills, making hats and mittens for the all the children of Wendell. Sally was an amazing baker and baked many wedding cakes for family and friends. In her early years she was a member of the Jumptown Twirlers.
Sally is survived by her children, Karen Wilder of Greenfield, Richard Wilder and his wife Penny of Wendell, and Denise DeLong and her husband Adam of Boscawen, NH; grandchildren, Jennifer Houle, Christie Karlson, Antonio Becchetti, Domenico Becchetti, Richard Jr., Rebecca Wilder, Regina Merullo, Julia Mangum and Scott Wilder; eleven great grandchildren; and one great, great grandson. Sally also leaves her siblings, Stephen Clark and his wife Pamela, of Athol, Judith Davis of Wendell, Florence Blackbird and her husband Theles of Wendell, Ronald Clark of Florida and Donald Clark of Ohio.
Besides her parents and husband, Sally was predeceased by a son Josiah Wilder lll in 2022 and by her brother Chester Clark Jr in 1974.
A calling hour will be held on July 1 2022 from 10-11 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange . A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on July 1,2022. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery, in Wendell. Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is assisting the family.
