ORANGE- Sandra (Noyes) “Sandy” Murphy, 67, of East River Street, died early Saturday morning, March 11, 2023 at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Athol on April 22, 1955, she was the daughter of Merrill and Virginia (Fox) Noyes and grew up in Wendell and attended Ralph C. Mahar Regional School.
On May 5, 1973, Sandy married Gary M. Murphy and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage until his death on February 7, 2012.
Sandy had worked at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol as the Food Service Administrator for many years and had previously worked for Comprehensive Healthcare.
Sandy enjoyed time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She loved the ocean and lighthouses, gardening and doing crafting.
Sandy is survived by her children, Shannon Murphy of Orange, Heather Jenks and her husband, Warren, of Orange, and Benjamin Murphy and his wife, Melissa, of Wendell; grandchildren Brandon Jenks, Brent Jenks, Brooke Jenks, and Travis Murphy; a sister, Valerie Matusevich and her husband, John, of Orange; a nephew, Dalton Fisher Jr.; nieces, Tammie Fisher and Laura Dunn; and an aunt, Gloria Carey of Delaware.
Besides her parents and husband, Sandy was predeceased by a sister, Cheryl Fisher.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104.
