ERVING- Sarah J. (Adams) Meuse, 71, of Briggs Street in Erving, Ma., died late Saturday night, May 11, 2024 at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Greenfield on November 29, 1952, she was the daughter of Collis and Elizabeth (Robarge) Adams. She lived in Greenfield for 2 years before moving to Erving where she lived a majority of her life. She graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School in 1970, went on to attend various colleges and places of employment across the country, until settling back in Franklin County. She worked in the area’s largest department store, Wilson’s, as a switchboard operator. During her time there she connected with William Meuse, who she then later married. She and William were married on November 29, 1975 on her birthday. They were married nearly 49 years.
Sarah loved working at the Erving Elementary School as an administrative assistant. She often reflected on her time working alongside her co-worker, and friend, Anita Chase in the Art Room. Together they worked on the school student publishing project. They also enjoyed working together to make scenery, costumes and props for the annual school play. Sarah worked at EES until she retired the same year as her husband in 2015, putting in over 30 years of service.
Sarah's hobbies included gardening with her mother and daughters, family cook-outs, crafting, an interest in animal rescue, and decorating her home. She was also the family historian- always doing genealogy projects for the family or friends. Her biggest accomplishment as family historian was collecting all of her father’s medals, memorabilia, and letters during his time of service in WWII. She documented and cataloged everything and created a book that she gave to each of her brothers as a memento.
Above all else Sarah’s greatest love was being a mother and grandmother. She often was heard saying that the only thing she ever dreamed of doing with her life was being a mother. Sarah was usually the first to ask to hold a baby whenever she was around family or friends who had little ones that needed holding. Her smile was biggest with a baby in her arms.
Survivors include her loving husband, William Meuse of Erving; her children, Ryan Meuse and wife Kellie of Leyden, twins Rebecca Meuse of Erving and Elizabeth Streeter-Meuse and her husband Ben of Springfield, VT; grandchildren, James Leclerc of Erving, Aaron Meuse of Leyden and Ryder Meuse of Leyden; her brothers, Collis Adams and wife Laura of Goffstown, NH, Christopher Adams and wife Sharron of Ledyard, CT, and Ethan Adams and his wife Pranisa of Fitchburg; along with many nephews and nieces.
