ATHOL- Shirley C. LaCombe of Athol, MA died Thursday, September 09, 2021 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare Campus in Worcester.
Shirley was born in Salem, MA on May 30, 1934, the youngest of three children, to Vilmer and Delia (Aylwin) Bernier. She grew up in Salem and attended St. Mary’s and St. James Schools in Salem.
In 1954, she married Paul E. LaCombe and they lived in Salem and Beverly for many years. In 1977, Shirley and Paul moved to Easthampton, MA and then they lived in Wendell, and then in 1991, moved to Athol.
While living in Western, MA, she worked at Ed’s Auto Body, Kaiser Permanente, Quabbin Valley Healthcare and Northeast Housing and retired in 2007.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Paula Dylingowski (Peter) of Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, her daughter Denise Miller (Nick Grant) of Florida, her son James of Athol. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Danielle (Chris), Seth, Tom, William, Jeremy, Tara, Tyler, Brittany, Justin, Casey and Colin; as well as four great grandchildren, Collum, Morgan, Sinjon, and Tohrin.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Paul E. (2015), her son Carl (2015), her sisters, Doris Boucher (1951) and Geraldine Jenkins (1993).
Visitation will be held on September 22, 2021 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on September 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 19 Congress Street, Orange, with Fr. Shaun O’Connor officiating.
Interment will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
