ORANGE- Major Stanley P. Senak, 88, of West River Street, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Bristol, Connecticut on June 23, 1934, he was the son of Peter and Eva Marie Senak.
On July 18, 1959, Stanley married Sandra B. (Haskins), whom he had met at Old Orchard Beach camp meetings, and enjoyed 50 years of marriage until her death on July 20, 2009.
Stanley was the warehouse manager at Session Clock Works until 1958 when he was ordained as a pastor in the Salvation Army..
Since being ordained by the Salvation Army in 1958, Stanley has been involved with the Salvation Army, filling various positions as well as helping collect. He was a fixture at Christmas time with the Red Kettle collections in front of area businesses. His life work was to help others. Stanley and Sandra moved to several locations as Salvation Army Pastors in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio before retiring.
Stanley enjoyed singing and gardening, especially flowers. He also had a great sense of humor and served as an active member of Valuing Our Children’s the North Quabbin Grandparent Support Group.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Mitchell of Orange, whom he lived with, Stephen Senak of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Sharon Vanover of Willington, Connecticut, Sarah MacLean of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Stanley Senak of Dayton, Ohio, Suzanne Hickman of London, England, and Stephanie Potter of Chicopee; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Stanley was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Calling hours will be held on September 11,2022 from 3-5 p.m., at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
A funeral service will be held on September 12, 2022 at 11 a.m., at the Salvation Army, 107 Ridge Avenue, Athol.
Interment will be private in Valhalla, New York.
Donations may be made to the "Stanley & Sandra Senak Memorial Fund", c/o Athol Savings Bank, 388 Main Street, Athol, MA 01331. Funds will be used to support local agencies that help individuals and families thrive.
