Suzanne M. Harris

New Salem- Suzanne Marie Harris of New Salem died at home, on August 05, 2021 at the age of 77, with family and caregivers by her side.

She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Marie (Verney) Harris and her brother, Robert Harris, Jr.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Pamela Harris, and two brothers, Gary and his wife Janis of Medway, MA, and Mark and his wife Andrea of Owls Head, ME. She is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews: Robert Harris III (Andrea), Joseph Harris (Pam), John Harris, Tawnya Enselek (Peter), Kirsten McCarthy (Rich Davis), Andrew Harris (Allison), Matthew Harris(Cynthia), Joel Harris (Jessica), Levi Harris, Dana Harris and Asher Harris, and several great nephews and nieces, especially three of whom she enjoyed spending time with: Chelsea, Robert IV, and Nickalis.

Suzanne was born on September 25, 1943 at Farren Memorial Hospital in Montague. She attended schools in Orange and New Salem and graduated from Mahar Regional High School in Orange in 1961. She also graduated from the School of Nursing at Franklin County Public Hospital in Greenfield with an RN, the University of Bridgeport (CT) with a BS, and Boston University with an MS in Pediatric Nursing.

She worked for many years at Boston Children’s Hospital, and then taught Nursing at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester.

She lived in Boston and Westboro. She took a “leave of absence” for a year, to care for her mother. Three years later, she moved back to the family home to care for her father. She returned to work, commuting back and forth, until her retirement in New Salem, where she spent the remainder of her life.

She enjoyed taking many bus trips with Wilson Bus Lines. She had special interests in quilting and weaving, doll collecting and her cats. She especially loved babies and children, who had also been the focus of her professional life.

The family is appreciative of "Sue's Team" for their loving care.

She was a member of the North New Salem Congregational Church, 60 Elm Street, where a celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

Private interment in South Cemetery, Orange.
