ROYALSTON- Sylvia E. Cosseboom, 92, of Royalston, Massachusetts passed peacefully in her sleep on June 29, 2023 with her beloved cat, Harley, by her side. She was known as Sibby to her friends, but her family affectionately called her Mamu. She was born on December 24, 1930 in East Millinocket, Maine, to Margaret (Marnie) and Raymond (Bumpa) Cosseboom. Instead of detailing her entire life, she would want you to know who she was. She had the ability to become friends with anyone she met, and as a great lover of dogs, she oftentimes would stop on the side of the road to tell someone that their dog was adorable and ask what their name was and continue to have a 20-minute conversation all about them. To know Sylvia was to love her. Her smile was as infectious as they come and she could get an entire room laughing in a matter of minutes. It was impossible to be in a bad mood around her. She was a great listener and cared deeply about your feelings. You could talk to her for hours over the phone and you wouldn’t realize how fast the time flew by. No conversation with her was ever boring. One thing her family will miss are her infamous happy birthday phone calls. She would sing the song like she was on a stage performing for everyone. She became a second mom or grandma to almost everyone she met. She was also known by her famous interjections, Judas Priest, Christopher Columbus, okay for you, and dear Gussy, which she always said at least once in every conversation. She was a lover of many things; mystery books (especially by Mary Higgins Clark), hazelnut coffee, peach tea, all animals, knitting, and the White Cloud Diner, to name some. Most of all, she loved spending time with the people she loved. She loved to tell stories, talk, and play board games, but honestly, you could sit in silence next to her and she’d be happy. She gave the type of hug that could heal any burden on your soul and you never had a doubt that she loved you with her entire being. She was predeceased by her best friend of over 75 years Arden (Pete) Mattson. She leaves behind three children Charles (Markie) Nardone and his wife, Robyn, of Florida; Andre (Andy) N. Nardone Sr. and his wife, Laurie, of Wendell, Massachusetts; Cindy (Lulu) Nardone Cooke and her husband, Jeffrey, of Royalston, Massachusetts; two “adopted” daughters, Robin Heubel and her wife, Amy Palmer of Costa Rica; four grandchildren, Andre (Nick) N. Nardone Jr. and his girlfriend Jessica, and Ben (Benj), Abby (Abadabadoo) and Bella (Bubie) Nardone Cooke; four great-grandchildren, Amber Nardone, Kensey Nardone Cooke, Ziyah Nardone, and Andre (Dre) N. Nardone III. She will be missed more than words could ever express. Per her request, there will be no funeral or calling hours. Instead, have a bloody Mary (with Tito's!), rare prime rib with a baked potato and sour cream, or spaghetti and think of her. She always referred to herself as a lucky lady, but we are the lucky ones to have been able to have the honor to know and love her. We will always love you to pieces.
