ATHOL — Thomas J. Burdick, 30, of Conant Road, died unexpectedly at home on July 22, 2018 after being stricken ill.

Born in Westerly, Rhode Island on May 23, 1988, he was a son of John E. Burdick Jr. and Lynn A. (Jarvis) Thomas and grew up in Stonington, Connecticut until 1996 when his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and later moving to Athol in 2001.

Thomas attended Athol Middle School and Montachusett Regional Vocational School in Fitchburg and obtained his GED from Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner.

An outdoor enthusiast, Thomas enjoyed biking, camping, fishing and being in the woods. He also was a New England Patriots fan.

Survivors include his mother and step father, Lynn and Robert Leonard of Athol; his father and step mother, John Jr. and Patti Burdick of Montville, CT; a sister, Lisa Babbitt and her husband, Scott, and their son Will, of Waterford, CT; step brothers, Griff Burdick and Mitch Burdick, both of Montville, CT; a grandmother, Dorothy Burdick of Mystic, CT; aunts and uncles; and many good friends.

Thomas was predeceased by his grandparents, Carl and Marie Jarvis of North Stonington, CT and John E. Burdick Sr. of Mystic, CT, as well as a nephew, John Ryan Babbitt of Waterford, CT.

Private services will be held in Connecticut.
