Thomas P. Haskins Obituary

NEW SALEM, MA- Thomas P. (Tom) Haskins,60, formerly of Ridgewood, N.J, died peacefully with family by his side on May 16, 2023, in Hartford, CT.

Born on May 21, 1962 in Teaneck, N.J.  to his parents Gerald and Mary (Stuart) Haskins who predeceased him and was one of seven children. Tom was a 1980 graduate of Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J. where he earned All-State honors as a member of the football team. Tom served a term as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Don Bosco. He was a 1984 graduate of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA where he continued his football career. He proudly played on a Holy Cross team that advanced to the Division 1AA national semi-final championship game.

Upon graduation, he began his business career in NYC with the Xerox Corp earning many accolades as a top performer on their sales team. Shifting his career to the area of finance he became a member of the Citibank fixed income division. Later, as a long tenured Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, he earned his MBA at the NYU Stern School of Business. Often, his workday would begin at 3 am, keeping his many clients informed on capital markets worldwide.

He was a legacy lifetime member of the New York Athletic Club where he eventually served as a member of the clubs Board of Directors. His legacy at the NYAC will be carried on by the many men and women who he sponsored for membership and by those he assisted in finding jobs on Wall Street and throughout the business world. And now his daughter, Olivia, is now a 3rd generation member of the club.

A great fan of golf, he was a member of the Ridgewood (NJ) Golf Club as well as the Tralee Golf Club in Ireland. His competitive nature enticed him to the world of marathon running where he ran in numerous NYC Marathons.

He thrived on the hustle and bustle of life in NYC where he explored its many attractions with his growing family. And in a city as large as New York he lived by the mantra that there were no strangers in his life...only friends he hadn't met yet.

Tom is survived by his daughter Olivia, 21, of New York City, as well as a daughter Delaney (15) and sons Michael (16) and Trevor (14) of Tampa, Florida. as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom's most memorable times included his family vacations, legendary golf trips to Ireland, hosting family reunions, and following his favorite sports of football and golf. Tom will be sorely missed by the multitude of people he has impacted during a life well served.

A Mass of the Resurrection in his honor will be held at the Church of St. Francis Xavier, 30 West 16th Street in New York City on July 20th at 10:00 AM.
