WARWICK- Virginia M. (Purington) Fellows, 95, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025 at Applewood Nursing & Rehabilitation in Winchester, NH.
Born in Greenfield on December 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Geneva (Call) Purington, and grew up in Colrain, attending Colrain grammar schools and graduating from Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls in 1948.
Virginia was married to Oliver Fellows on September 15, 1950 and had enjoyed over 70 years of marriage and raising a family until his passing on August 24, 2021. Following their marriage, they moved to Orange for several years before moving to Warwick.
Virginia worked for the Erving Paper Mill as a machine operator for 28 years and retired in 1992.
A 4H leader, Virginia was also active in Warwick’s Parent Teacher Organization, the Warwick Women’s Guild and was a senior meal site worker for a number of years.
Virginia loved having her family around, as well as making doll dresses and attended the Trinitarian Congregational Church for many years.
She is survived by her children; Audrey Williams of Fridley, Minnesota, Steven Fellows of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Arthur “Rusty” Fellows of Orange, Chuck Fellows of Red Oak, Virginia, and Mark Fellows of Warwick. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; many nephews and nieces; and a brother, Sam Purington of Buckland.
Besides her parents and husband, Virginia was predeceased by her siblings, Marion Burnap, Edward Purington, Ellen Miller, Doris Johnson, Elsie Corse, Agnes Steele, and Roger Purington.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held on October 25, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
Interment will follow in Warwick Center Cemetery.
