NEW SALEM- Annabelle G. (Gilmore) (Gunn) Douglas, 98, of Lavoie Lane, died peacefully at home on Saturday morning, March 13, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Orange on August 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Clayton Gilmore and Sylvia (Hall) and lived her entire life in the Athol- Orange area, graduating from Orange High School in 1940. She was the last of the Gilmore clan of her generation.

Annabelle was married to Warren C. Douglas from 1971 until his death on June 2, 1994. She was married to her first husband, Stuart H. Gunn, from 1942 until 1965.

Annabelle was the switchboard operator and receptionist at the Rodney Hunt Company in Orange for over 35 years before retiring.

Annabelle enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, motorcycling, golfing and cooking and had shared her skills and knowledge with her children and grandchildren.

She was member of the former Orange Eastern Star and attended the First Universalist Church in Orange.

Survivors include her children, Stuart Gunn Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Stoughton, Elaine Powers of Columbus, GA, and Genie Casey and her husband, Brian, of New Salem; 5 grandchildren, Karen Bulock and husband Eric, of Mendon, Laura Gunn and her husband, Peter Machula, of Stoughton, Jeff Gunn of Stratham, New Hampshire, Beth Powers of Columbus, GA, and Barbara Lauriat of London.  Annabelle also leaves behind 4 great grandchildren, Evan Bulock, Colin Bulock, Liam Machula and Ruby Machula.

Besides her parents and husbands, Annabelle was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Kingsbury, Mildred Stockwell, Faith Allen, Wilfred Clayton Gilmore Jr., and Donald Gilmore.

There are no calling hours.

FACE MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED FOR:

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1 p.m. in South Cemetery, 585 South Main Street, Orange.

The family kindly asks that flowers be omitted and donations in Annabelle’s memory be made to the First Universalist Church, 31 North Main Street, Orange, MA 01364, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
