ATHOL- James S. Morris, 87, of Athol, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022, with his loving wife, Gloria, and daughter, Carol, at his side.
Born in 1934 to Stanley and Nellie Morris, he resided in Athol his entire life. He was a graduate of the Athol High School Class of 1952.
Jim is a proud Marine Corp vet and served in Korea. He worked for the Athol Highway Dept. and then worked many years in the Mic Dept at Starrett’s. He had great stories about his friends there.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria; his daughter Carol and her husband Mike of Myrtle Beach, SC, and his grandson, Sean and his significant other, Karolina, of Lexington, KY. He had many nieces and nephews; and also many of Carol’s friends who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, George.
A devoted husband and father, Jim was also an incredibly generous man with a huge heart. He was a wonderful cook, and no one was ever allowed to leave without a full belly. He had a great sense of humor. He loved a good yard sale and finding bargains.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice in honor of Jim.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange is assisting the family during this difficult time.
