Barbara was a wonderful person, I felt extremely lucky to have know her and I will miss her dearly. Her positive and warm nature and dedication to conservation was a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed our visits sitting by the woodstove talking about birds, nature and politics, having coffee and a few laughs. My thoughts are with you and your family and the good memories of Barbara.

Barbara was a light in the world of the North Quabbin. She allowed it to glow and shine on many. An inspiration to all who worked in the field of human services. It was an honor to know her.

Sincere sympathy wishes to Bill, Sarah and Kip, and all family members and other friends like me who loved Barbara Corey. It was a pleasure to be a friend and environmentalist colleague to Barbara, serving with her on the board of the Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust. Thank you for mentioning, in your beautiful and well-written obituary, her involvement in the Our Daily Bread Food Coop, which is where I first met Barbara, in the 1970s. Barbara inspired me as a hiker and gardener and community member, and I am so proud of being the first recipient (in 1998) of the Barbara Corey Award. Aside from many serious endeavors and conversations, Barbara and I had fun together and made one another laugh. I miss her already.

To all of Barbara's family,
I remember Barbara with fondness working with her for many years at Mahar. She was a strong advocate for all of her students and went above and beyond to assist them in any way possible. She was creative and innovative always having their best interests at heart. We took a course together at Worcester State and had a good time commuting together. The town of Petersham will miss her as well as her family. She was a great person who was admired by all. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you at this difficult time.

Bill and family, Barbara has been my next door neighbor for as long as I have lived in Petersham. She had such a zest for life and was wonderful to go visit. She always had remarkable stories to tell. It was a privilege to be her neighbor. My sincere sympathy to your entire family. She will be missed by all her neighbors, the flowers, and birds. My thoughts are with you all. Kaye

From my newspaper correspondent days, I am among proud recipients of one of Barbara's famous handwritten messages of appreciation dashed off on personalized postcards kept handy at her official desk at the Coalition. Oh, those gracious "little things" for which a "big person" is remembered ...

With condolences,
Ann Reed
